Wedding Planning

We can help you with your wedding planning or you can bring your own wedding planner with you. We know what we are doing but will accommodate whatever wishes you have and that includes bringing your own wedding planner if that what you would like.

Romantic Weddings

The charming stone-and-thatch chapel with its expansive view of the Drakensberg Mountains and rolling foothills of the Natal Midlands in a setting of gardens and view. This is a Drakensberg wedding venue perfectly suited to an elegant country-style wedding

Wedding Venue

Our reception hall can accommodate up to 100 guests. This wedding venue is a particularly lovely space for smaller weddings. If you would like to drape and have fairy lights that can easily be arranged although the lodge.Our wooden chandeliers with real candles offer that touch of romance to the atmosphere.

Catering

The lodge includes a fully equipped professional kitchen and we will gladly cater for your event. We are experts at doing a sheep or pig on the spit too. We offer an option to bring in an outside caterer as we understand that personal preference, culture and budget are factors to take into consideration.

Wedding Chapel

Our beautiful thatched chapel is in close proximity to the main venue. The Chapel has panoramic views of the Drakensberg and really requires very little decor but small touches can be added to the bridal parties discretion. The Chapel can accommodate 100 guests, and includes pots for flowers, central lighting, registry table and an altar table.

Photograph Sites

Our Wedding Venue with the backdrop of farm lands, blue skies, lush green gardens for that picture perfect moment. Fantastic, unlimited bridal couple photographic opportunities – farmlands, dam, horses and farm animals in a perfect Drakensberg setting.There are great wedding photographers in the area and we will gladly supply you with details.

Retreats

Antbear Lodge offers various retreat options with accommodation in mountain view suits, garden view suits and also boasts a luxury cave. This Lodge is one of those smaller intimate kind of places which has been lovingly put together. The natural setting of the accommodation is stunning and we managed to capture this beauty with an atmosphere of comfort and ease. The cottages are artistically appointed and individually designed. The fact that we are a small place makes for an intimate and personal retreat experience. Each of the accommodation units is different and are decorated with uniquely eccentric and artistic wooden furniture.

Great Location

We cater for small intimate groups and never have more than 44 at the time. It is a laid back lovingly cared for kind of place where you feel a sense of happiness and peace. We can provide all the services and accommodation for your retreat. This wonderful place for group retreats offers spectacular views, vast spaces, wild winds, rain, sunshine, clouds and rainbows and in all of this inn an atmosphere of tranquillity and peace. Retreat groups can book the whole lodge for exclusive use. The lodge can accommodate 44 persons in 15 units.

Our Services

We have hosted yoga retreats, spiritual retreats, mediation retreats, art retreats, reiki workshops to mention but a few. What goes really well with the retreats clients is that we have a labyrinth in the garden.We believe in sustainable tourism and social responsibility. We live in a spectacularly beautiful place. If we want to keep our way of life that it surely follows that we must do everything in our power to contribute to the upliftment and prosperity in this rural area. Situated 4 hours from Johannesburg and 2 hours from Durban with easy access from the N3.

Suites & Meals

Antbear Lodge has a spacious dining room with a wood-burning fireplace, a comfortable lounge with a fireplace and spectacular views, a breakaway meeting room, a large veranda and a large function venue for retreats, team building or training activities. We provide excellent meals and will fit our menu to your expectations. With our farm to plate concept, homegrown cooking is part of the deal. We use vegetables from our own organic garden, milk from our cows, eggs from our chickens, we bake our own bread and we even make our own cheese.
